Indra Maharaj was appointed as an acting Board member in September 2020. She joins the Board following a legal career spanning thirty years that included extensive experience in energy regulation, along with knowledge of adjudicative tribunals, litigation, and administrative law. She holds the principles of natural justice and fairness as fundamental to respecting and upholding the public interest while ensuring that development is sustainable and economic. Recently, Indra served as the Chair of the Criminal Injuries Review Board. Indra also serves as a commissioner on the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission. She volunteers extensively in her community and within the legal profession.
Indra has a master’s degree in law that focused on environment and energy law. She has also completed certificates in conflict resolution, indigenous relations, and leadership.
