NRCB response to CFO disruptions due to COVID-19

Posted on April 29, 2020 |

The NRCB recognizes that situations arising from the COVID-19 pandemic have the potential to cause disruptions to confined feeding operations. For example, temporary disruptions in supply chains may impact livestock numbers and manure management practices.

If you find yourself facing short-term pressures related to COVID-19 and its effects, please contact the NRCB directly to discuss the situation before making any changes to your operation. The NRCB will work with CFO operators on a case-by-case basis to assist you in managing these pressures.

While the NRCB has closed its offices in response to COVID-19, all employees are working remotely and can be contacted via their regular email or phone numbers that are listed on the NRCB website. Alternatively, requests can be emailed to info@nrcb.ca or you can call an NRCB regional office (Lethbridge 403-381-5166, Morinville 780-939-1212, or Red Deer 403-340-5241) and leave a voice message.

The NRCB continues to deliver on its mandate to process permit applications for confined feeding operations pursuant to the Agricultural Operation Practices Act and to respond to complaints relating to confined feeding operations (the NRCB reporting line—1-866-383-6722—continues to be available 24 hours a day). In order to prevent the spread of the virus, NRCB staff are following recommended hygiene practices and physical distancing requirements when required to go to a confined feeding operation.
