The Government of Alberta has enacted Bill 44, Agricultural Operation Practices Amendment Act, 2025, which came into effect on June 23, 2025. Learn more about what’s new in this story in the June 14, 2025 issue of Agri-News, a publication of Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation (AGI).
The following legislation, regulations, and code have been updated as a result of Bill 44:
- Agricultural Operation Practices Act
- Agricultural Operations, Part 2 Matters Regulation
- Standards and Administration Regulation
- On-farm storage and land application code: Agricultural Operation Practices Act. First Edition, June 2025 (replaces the previous Manure Characteristics and Land Base Code and directive related to the storage and application of digestate on agricultural land)
AGI has published three new fact sheets to provide more detail on the recent amendments to the legislation:
